You have to stop at a red light; it’s the law.

They don’t know what they’re talking about because they never graduated from college.

3. Equivocation

Bob: The onions made her cry.

Fred: Why would the onions do that? What did they say to her?!

4. Slippery Slope

Make sure you lock your car. If you don’t lock it, someone will break in and steal your car.

5. Straw Man

person: I think college should be free for everyone.

other person: Why would you want to create high taxes and waste the country’s money?!

6. Tu Quoque

You can’t tell me I shouldn’t cheat on my test because you cheated on your math quiz last week!

7. Non Sequitur

Nancy drives the same car as Mary. Mary is really rude, therefore, Nancy must be rude too.

8. False Dichotomy

Would you rather wash the dishes now or in ten minutes?

9. Argument from Ignorance

He’s never been pulled over by a cop, therefore, he must be a great driver.

10. Red Herring

Teacher: This is the fourth time you’ve been late to class this week.

Student: You know kids really shouldn’t have to wake up this early for school because our brains aren’t fully awake yet.

11. Genetic

Their claim can’t be true because their research was from a website.

12. Post Hoc

The baseball player didn’t wear his lucky socks and his team lost the game, so, the team didn’t win because the player forgot to wear his lucky socks.
