C: The abuse of power results in the loss of trust in people.
My story of injustice might not seem like much, but for me it was one of the first times I realized that life isn’t as fair as I think it is. My family and I were out at a nice restaurant in some beachy town in Northern California. We were seated there for quite some time and we hadn’t had a single employee come to help us or take our orders. Now, after noticing that we were the only minorities in the restaurant, we also began to realize that we might not be receiving the best service because of how we looked. Everyone else, including those who were seated after us, were being brought there food and had waiters frequently checking in on them.
Again, my injustice isn’t some tragic and horrible story and I don’t want to make it sound worse than it really was, but it was a moment in my life where I definitely felt out of place. I never really experienced anything like that at home and it was an eye-opener. So, this story leads to the point that injustices can result in the loss of trusting people, and that day made me trust those people in the restaurant a lot less.
